The V8 is not their latest model, it’s not even the second latest, but damn they did a good job with it. The suction power is excellent, it charges in 5 hours, and it comes with a wall mounted docking station.

Plus it’s a huge step down in price from the latest V11 which I really like.

Works on both hard floors and carpets and can manage furniture too with the upholstery and crevice tool. Plus it converts down into a handheld vacuum for excellent stair cleaning and car cleaning.

It’s got 40 minutes of battery life which sees you around the house and the canister isn’t the biggest at just over half a litre if you’re vacuuming every day it should only need a daily empty. Different story if you have pets but that’s just pet ownership.

The HEPA filter ensures all the fine dust particles are picked up leaving you with fresher air in your house. Plus it’s got a turbo setting for tough spot cleaning, although this does quickly drain the battery life so don’t overuse it.

A superb top choice and easily one of the best vacuum cleaners around.

2. Best Cordless – Dyson V11 Absolute Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson V11 Absolute Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Type: Cordless Stick Vacuum

Pros

  • Most Powerful suction
  • 60 minute run time
  • Battery lifetime display
  • Auto adjusts for floor type
  • Easy empty

Cons

  • Pricey

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

This is the creme de la creme of vacuum cleaners, it’s perhaps the most powerful vacuum on the market thanks to some clever cyclone technology and it’s got some cool tech inside that allows it to adjust its bristle height based on what floor type it senses underneath for a deeper clean.

But it comes at a price, a steep one at that, I’d say it’s worth every penny but only if you can afford it, the older models like the V8 above still do an excellent job which is why it’s the top of the list even though this is arguably the better vacuum.

It also has a cool LCD screen that shows you how much charge you have left with a minute by minute timer so it won’t cut out on you. And the battery doesn’t fade power it goes from on to off which combines with a the filter system that doesn’t clog so you never lose suction.

The dust bin is still quite small and the first time you use it you’ll be amazed how much it picks up, so you need regular emptying as you go around your house. But it’s compact and lightweight enough that it isn’t a bother.

Finally, you get all the attachments you’d expect, crevice tool, dusting brush, upholstery nozzle.

The most powerful vacuum around, a great cordless Dyson, worth the extra to upgrade from the Dyson Cyclone V10 absolute for sure.

3. Best Upright – Dyson Ball Animal 2 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson Ball Animal 2 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Type: Upright

Pros

  • Superb suction
  • Manoeuvrable
  • Certified to not hurt your back
  • Stair tool included

Cons

  • Heavy to take up stairs

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

This is everything you could want from a corded upright vacuum cleaner. It moves easily, cleans thoroughly and on all floor types. The bristles work to unleash dust from carpet and a seal stops dust on hard floor from escaping.

It’s a bit of a beast to lug up stairs but isn’t the heaviest upright vacuum I’ve come across. It also comes with a stair tool for cleaning the stairs too. And it’s got a stick to reach up high when deep cleaning your home.

What I also love is it doesn’t have the same high price their cordless model does and upright vacuums tend to have longer life because the batteries don’t wear out so you can keep on cleaning with this for years to come.

A fine choice for pet owners and anyone who likes a deep thorough clean but doesn’t want to deal with a cordless vacuum recharging.

4. Best Cylinder – Dyson Big Ball Animal 2 Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

Type: Cylinder

Pros

  • Bagless
  • 1.8 L dust bin
  • Washable filter
  • Self rights when topples
  • Combination tool

Cons

  • Not as powerful as other models

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

The coolest thing about this has to be that itself rights when it falls over because it’s on this big giant ball. Dyson really do lead the way in engineering feats and this is a testament to that.

It’s got a combination head with a crevice tool and dusting brush 2-in-1 which makes all the corners and edge cleaning easier and while it doesn’t have the same power as some of their other vacuums it has far more cleaning power than most.

The head is self adjusting between carpets and hard floors and this model is ideal for pets. But even if you don’t have pets you’ll notice a visible difference in the cleanliness of your house after you use it.

The bin is a much more reasonable size at 1.8L which allows you to get around your whole house before emptying. After the first vacuuming. And the emptying is easy and hygienic even though it’s a bagless model.

5. Best for Pet Hair – Dyson Small Ball Allergy Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson Small Ball Allergy Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Type: Upright

Pros

  • Lowest price Dyson
  • Quieter
  • Lighter
  • Mattress tool included

Cons

  • 3 modes for floor types don’t auto adjust

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

This is the cheapest Dyson you can buy, for that you don’t have some of the same technology, the floor type changer doesn’t happen automatically and the suction isn’t quite as good. But you still get a superb vacuum.

The worst Dyson is still better than most vacuums after all!

It’s certified allergy friendly so you know it’s going to do a great job keeping pet hair and dander under control even if you’ve got someone with allergies coming over.

And you’ve got all the tools needed to get the job done, even a mattress tool which is useful because I know my dog’s hair gets absolutely everywhere. I always wonder how it ends up in the fridge…

A much lower price with the same great cleaning power you can expect from a Dyson.

Different Types of Dyson Vacuum Cleaner

I just want to quickly go over the different types of Dyson Vacuum, just so everyone’s on the same page!

Upright Dyson Vacuums

Upright Dyson vacuums are perhaps the most iconic, at least they are to me.

Nowadays the stick vacuums are becoming much more common and that’s what’s being shown in the adverts but to me, a Dyson is a big hefty upright vacuum.

Their upright vacuums are superb quality, they have the Dyson Ball technology so you can easily glide them around the house making them much easier to use.

Dyson Cylinder Vacuums

Cylinder vacuums are the small ones that drag across the floor while you hold the hose.

Nice and lightweight and really easy to use.

Dyson Stick Vacuums

Dyson stick vacuums are now the type you’re most likely to see in an advert.

The long stick with the motor at the handle and normally a handy hanger.

Also cordless so you can just take them out, vacuum the house and hang them up again which is really useful.

Handheld Dyson Vacuums

Often a part of the Stick vacuums but while they are expensive you get excellent suction better than any other handheld vacuum around.

Advantages of A Dyson Vacuum

Suction

Dysons absolutely suck!

Pun completely intended, I, of course, mean that Dysons have some of the best suction of all vacuums available.

Really powerful motors and superb cleaning power.

Durability

Dysons are also built to last, they have really solid builds and can stand up to a lot.

You definitely won’t need to replace one anytime soon!

Tried And Trusted

Dyson have been making vacuums for a long time. They’ve been a household staple for many years so they’ve had a lot of time to perfect what they do.

So you get the brand trust when you stick with Dyson.

Great For Pet Hair

If you have pets then a Dyson will be an absolute winner for you. They have models specifically for pet hair which are even better but even their basic models make short work of it.

Disadvantages of a Dyson Vacuum

Price

You can’t work around it, Dyson vacuums cost a lot.

But they are worth the price if you can afford it. You absolutely get what you pay for so I wouldn’t say they are expensive but they are costly.

Weight

The upright Dysons are heavy. The vacuums with the Ball technology are still very manoeuvrable but they definitely can’t be classed as Lightweight.

The stick vacuums and the cylinder vacuums are much lighter but the handheld vacuum is a lot heavier than other handheld vacuums.

Other Dyson Vacuum Reviews

These are reviews of Dysons older models from previous versions of this article.

V8 Absolute Stick Vacuum

Dyson-V8 Absolute Vacuum Review

Pros

  • Easy To Change Accessories
  • Efficient Cleaning
  • Reasonable Run Time
  • Easy To Pick Up And Go

Cons

  • Not Easy To Tell Accessories Apart
  • Wall Mounting Isn’t Easy

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

The V8 is everything you need in cordless cleaning power.

You can easily pick it up and get your house cleaned in no time. It’s run time is around 20 minutes so it’s best used for more frequent smaller cleanups, for a big house that might not be long enough. But if you’re in a flat or a small house it’ll be perfect.

The charge time is 5 hours which is great for a cordless vacuum, and it converts down into a handheld vacuum so you can easily clean the stairs and your car.

The main problem is with the wall mount that comes with it. It can be a bit tricky to get this screwed into the wall and if you’re not “handy” you might have trouble. It also doesn’t come with enough space to put all the attachments which are odd.

The flip side is that you can just get a big tupperware and put the attachments under the sink. That way you can still get them when you need them.

Dyson DC28C Review

Dyson DC28C Cylinder Ball Vacuum Cleaner with Pet Tool

Specifications

  • Bagless
  • 2L Dust Capacity
  • 10m Hose Length
  • Automatic Cord Rewind
  • 6.5m Power Cord

Pros

  • Dyson Ball Technology For Easy Maneuvering
  • Great For Carpet And Hardfloor
  • Bagless
  • Powerful Suction

Cons

  • Takes Up A Lot Of Storage Room

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

The main problem with the Dyson DC28C is that it’s quite a hefty cylinder vacuum so it takes up a lot of cupboard space.

But if you have the space to store it you’ll be buying yourself a great vacuum cleaner.

The ball technology means it’s really easy to pull around your house and the thing is a reasonable weight so very comfortable to use compared to an upright vacuum.

The floor head automatically adjusts depending if it’s on carpet or hard floor so it’s nice and quick to clean around the house. And it has a nice low profile so you can clean under furniture with ease.

Lastly, it’s bagless! That means you don’t have to keep forking out for bags every time you want to empty it.

Dyson DC75 Cinetic Big Ball Review

Dyson DC75 Cinetic Upright Vacuum Review

Specifications

  • 10.7m Power Cord
  • 2.2L Dust Capacity
  • 8kg
  • Bagless

Pros

  • Extremely Powerful Suction
  • Great For Pet Hair
  • Great on Hardfloor and Carpet
  • 5-year Warranty
  • Long Power Cord

Cons

  • Quite Heavy
  • Cumbersome To Move Around
  • Not Good On Deep Pile Carpets

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

The Dc75 is an absolute beast of a vacuum cleaner.

It has the crazy powerful suction that makes short work of pet hair and any other dirt on carpet and hard floors but it comes at a price.

This thing is bulky!

It’s nice and tall so you don’t have to stoop while you use it but it is heavy and feels like a bulky vacuum cleaner. But it has possibly the best vacuuming power of all Dyson vacuum cleaners so it is worth it. Just be aware that if you need something lightweight, this isn’t for you.

It has Cinetic technology inside which means it is excellent at removing any pollen or allergens out of the air and trapping them in the dust container. Just make sure you empty it straight into an outside bin!

A great upright vacuum.

Dyson V6 Trigger Pro Review

Dyson V6 Cordless vacuum for stairs

Specifications

  • 20 Minute Run Time
  • 2 Power Modes
  • One-Click Empty
  • 1.57 Kg
  • Washable Filter

Pros

  • Very Powerful Suction
  • Small And Lightweight
  • Easy To Empty
  • Comes With Motorized Brush Attachment

Cons

  • Noisey
  • Can’t use it while it’s charging.

VIEW PRICE AT DYSON.CO.UK

The Dyson V6 Trigger Pro is the best handheld Dyson has to offer, it’s got really great suction, especially for a handheld, and comes with a motorized brush for pet hair.

It’s nice and lightweight and not as bulky as it might look so it’s nice and comfortable to use.

The 20-minute run time is more than enough for any small jobs that a handheld is needed for. If you go to the more powerful setting you’ll only get around 6 minutes but you only need that for really stubborn dirt, mud in the carpet, that sort of thing.

It’s charge time is phenomenal at 3.5 hours from flat. I know of much smaller vacuums than this that will take upwards of 12 hours to fully charge.

Overall, a great handheld vacuum that is well worth the price.

Conclusion

There are other Dyson models, all of which are great, the V11 Animal, the Dyson V10 Animal, the Dyson V7 Trigger if you need something cheaper, but I’m happy with the ones I’ve picked here.
